But I can see that AG has--cleverly, I think--"recyled" Josefina in a new way. My problem is that I was all set for a distinctive friend look which, with hindsight, wasn't very realistic; of course, AG would stay with the look that's been working for them all along.

I want to clarify that I made up those names for the sculpts, and that I was only referring to the sculpts, not the vinyl colors. The caucasian one is also used on ethnic dolls. However, the ethnic one has yet to be used with the caucasian vinyl color (the lightest one).

Oh! I think that's the doll that may be Hispanic, light African American, Asian, or used to represent other ethnicities. It seems like she has Addy's face mold. Is this her, Ann?

Hopefully no one will take any of this thread in a way in which it's not intended. We're not talking about what features everyone in such-and-such a race has (everyone is different), but rather that we believe AG created certain face molds for different reasons...because they did. (Just posting this since I got a PM about this issue in response to a post I had made in this thread--I deleted it in case members might read and misunderstand my post. I really don't want people to misunderstand the purpose behind this conversation...we're talking about face sculpts only. AG changed face sculpts to represent different ethnicities...if all the dolls had the mold originally used for caucasian dolls, how boring it would be. I like that there are different molds, and wish more had been used (a different one for each doll would have been great). [img]biggrin.gif[/img] )

One thing to keep in mind is that, unlike porcelain dolls, the process for making a new sculpt for a vinyl doll is incredibly expensive. This is the reason why doll companies try to use the same sculpt over and over again, changing the skin tone, eye and hair color.

Yes, I think that is the one, Melissa. To me, she looks Indian, but wouldn't have to be. Is that face sculpt one that was already mentioned? She looks different to me from, say, this one. I also think her (the possibly Indian girl's) face sculpt is the same one as another African-American AGoT's.

Ann, to me it looks like the same sculpt that was used for Addy's face, but it's hard to tell since the pictures are so small.

It's my opinion that both of those dolls have Addy's face mold.

These 2 have the medium color skin and Felicity/Kirsten/Samantha/Kit/Molly face mold.....
